ABOUT US
The World Record Breakers Club (WRBC) is a nonprofit organization that transforms bold world record attempts into powerful sources of inspiration for children. By showcasing athletes as living examples of discipline, courage, and perseverance, WRBC gives children someone to look up to and something greater to reach for.
Our mission is to be a beacon of hope and possibility by sharing purpose-driven stories and extraordinary feats, spotlighting athletes who show that with focus, grit, and heart, even the wildest dreams are within reach.
At WRBC, every world record is more than just a headline. It’s a spark, a message, a mirror reflecting what a child can become with the right inspiration.
Through direct support and partnerships with local nonprofits, WRBC funds after-school programs, provides sports equipment and essential supplies, and invests in experiences that foster teamwork, resilience, and leadership. Studies show that these programs reduce risky behavior, juvenile crime, and incarceration, while boosting academic performance, confidence, and long-term success.
Our founder, Johnny Cruz Buckingham, a Major in the U.S. Air Force, is a dedicated leader, world traveler, and passionate advocate for service and mentorship. Born to a Filipino immigrant mother and a San Francisco Bay Area father who were both public school teachers, Johnny grew up with a sense of adventure, a hard work ethic, and a dedication to helping others.
He was recruited to play tennis at the U.S. Air Force Academy, where he began his lifelong commitment to service and giving back, volunteering with organizations like Big Brothers Big Sisters, Habitat for Humanity, and the American Red Cross. Johnny’s military career as a KC-135 tanker pilot has taken him across the globe, and his love for travel led him to set a Guinness World Record for the “Fastest time to visit all seven continents.”
He founded the World Record Breakers Club (WRBC), a nonprofit dedicated to inspiring others and raising funds for at-risk youth through exciting world record attempts. Through his work, Johnny’s story reflects his unyielding dedication to helping others and making the world a better place.
